Bertrand Giraud

Winner of international competitions, Bertrand Giraud performs as a French soloist, in recital and with orchestra, in the greatest concert halls around the globe. A sought-after chamber music partner, he is also a jury member and artistic director of numerous musical events. From the outset, Bertrand Giraud's career has been marked by diversity. For the pianist, music was a matter of course. So it was only natural for him to embark on a comprehensive training program: music theory, composition, analysis, improvisation, fortepiano and melody.

He is a double graduate of the Conservatoires Nationaux Supérieurs de Paris and Geneva, where he obtained his piano and chamber music diplomas in 1995 with "Mention Très Bien", in the class of Dominique Merlet. He completed this curriculum with masterclasses with A. Schiff, C. Hellfer, S. Perticaroli, V. Repin, R. Goode and P. Serkin. His encounters with C. Zerah, B. Canino and A. Delle Vigne have played a key role in his artistic development.

He has won several national and international competitions: 1995 Flame competition (Paris), 1996 Texas Chopin Competition in the U.S.A. Second prize, 1997 Texas Chopin Competition in the U.S.A. Second prize, 1999 Miłosz Magin competition in Italy, First prize. His many experiences and the recognition of his talent have led him to perform all over the world.

Bertrand Giraud has had many opportunities on the European continent, and the list of countries in which he has performed is impressive. Bertrand Giraud is also a regular guest at festivals in France, such as those organized by the Cité de la Musique, Salle Cortot and Musicora, in collaboration with France-Musique. In the course of his career, he has also had the opportunity to perform on Italian and Thai television, where, during a live concert, he was warmly praised by the Queen of Thailand.

Bertrand Giraud's encounters have fully developed and forged his current practice. His wide-ranging musical experience makes him a much-appreciated chamber music partner. He has played with Pierre Amoyal, Bruno Canino and Sophie Koch in major concert halls around the world.

A confirmed soloist, he also enjoys performing with orchestras (Lodz Philharmonic, Lublin Phiharmonic, Karlovy Vary, North Czech Philharmonic Teplice, Sodre Symphony Orchestra, Rosario Provincial Orchestra...). He has also worked with other talented professional musicians such as Messrs Canino, Pasquier, Demarquette, Flammer, Fromanger, Pierlot and Amoyal. He has played with the Octuor de France and with orchestral soloists in various formations.

Throughout his career, Bertrand Giraud has put his intellectual honesty and commitment at the service of demanding programs. Since his debut, he has released 25 CDs for Anima-records, Erol and Maguelone, all to critical acclaim. Keen to promote a wide variety of lesser-known repertoires, he is also keen to offer world premieres of works by lesser-known composers.

Recognition of his work, which combines sensitivity, emotion, quality and high standards, has also opened the doors to national and international competitions, this time not as a participant, but as a member of the jury. For some of these events, he is also artistic director. He also organizes musical academies to promote the dissemination, sharing and enjoyment of music.
